No. We have purposely chosen a portable extractor for cleaning. After much research and advice from other pros. We decided to invest in a portable extractor and here's a few reasons why:
1. REACH ANY SPACE. With a portable machine we can easily reach any space, any place without lugging 100 feet of hose.
2. LESS WATER. Truck mounts have a constant water source which can cause soaking. This is why they have such a large machine to try and suck the water out through 100 feet or more of hose. If all the water is NOT properly extracted, water, soil, solution and odors can be left in your carpet.
3. WEATHER. Rain, sun or snow... we can easily bring our equipment into your home or office even in poor weather. No need to winterize equipment or leave doors and windows open for long bulky hoses.
4. JUST AS EFFECTIVE. Portable extractors have proven to be just as, sometimes more effective in carpet cleaning than truck mounts. With shorter hoses, control of amount of water sprayed into carpet, two-stage vacuum for extraction and on-board heating element... we can get your carpets deep cleaned, sanitized, smelling great and dried in a timely manner.

Hot water extraction. The preferred method of cleaning by Shaw, Mohawk and The Carpet & Rug Institute. Many may refer to it as 'steam cleaning.' Although we prefer the term Hot Water Extraction because the focus is on the extraction. With our on-board heating system we can safely use water ranging from 120 degrees to 220 degrees depending on the carpet and cleaning process needed. Our cleaning solutions are proven to be safe for your family and pets.
No. Even though in most cases the cost for Dry Foam and Hot Water Extraction is the same, the process is much different.
To see why, let's first go over the process for dry foam carpet cleaning.
When a carpet cleaner uses dry foam, he applies shampoo to the surface of your carpet, it absorbs the surface dirt, he allows it to dry, and then vacuums up the dried shampoo.
Can you imagine applying shampoo to your hair, allowing it to dry and then removing the shampoo from your head with a vacuum?
One reason this method is not as effective as hot water extraction is that it can leave residue in your carpet which in turn will attract dirt. Another reason is it will not clean deep down in the fibers only surface clean.
With hot water extraction, a hot cleaning solution is injected at high-pressure into the carpet to suspend soil and other pollutants trapped in the fibers. Then with the high-powered vacuum the pollutants, soil and water is extracted out of the carpet leaving your carpet DEEP CLEANED. If your concern is drying time, with our system your carpets are damp or dry by the time we leave depending on type of carpet, weather and proper ventilation.
Yes. Looks can be deceiving. Though your carpets may not seem dirty, there are oils, sticky soil, ground in odors and allergens including dust mites that vacuuming cannot always take out. With a professional cleaning, say from JP Carpet, your carpet will not only look brighter and feel better but it will remove the deep down soil and allergens helping you breathe better, too.
Yes... and NO. Renting a Rug Doctor is in some cases more cost effective but is not as effective in cleaning carpets. Our industrial hot water extractor has more extraction power and quicker drying time so not to leave your carpets soaked which can be a breeding ground for mold. We also have an understanding of the proper cleaning agents and how much to use without leaving residue which some rentals can do and in turn attract soil.
Not to mention saving you the hassle of bringing the heavy machine in and out of your vehicle in to the house and back to the store. With us its as simple as one phone call!

Wicking, Wicking, Wickster. When the stains on your carpet are cleaned and they return it is because it has reached the backing of the carpet or the pad. The spill being trapped makes its way up the fibers to the surface --- like going up a candle wick, thus the name "Wicking." This is why it is so important to clean spills as they happen or once you notice them so as not to give the spill time to soak through the carpet.
If wicking does occur, simply place a clean towel on the area and weigh it down with a heavy object like a brick or large book. Leave this overnight and allow time for the towel to soak up as much of the stain as possible.
If you prefer to use a spot treatment for your carpet be sure to test an area of your carpet first or use a proven treatment from named manufacturers like Shaw.(https://shawfloors.com/flooring/fundamentals/carpet/carpet-care-maintenance/order-r2x-carpet-stain-soli-remover)
Otherwise, if you are able to address the spill right away absorb as much as possible with a clean paper towel or clean wash white cloth. Blot area with 2 tsp mild dish soap and 1 c warm water using a damp towel (do not rub) for a few minutes. If stain is removed, water rinse and apply pressure for an extended time, using a heavy object on the towel or cloth to help dry.
If stain is not removed, apply hydrogen peroxide (1/2 c)/ammonia (1 tsp) solution (test a small area first). Let stand for a couple of hours under a weighted sheet of plastic wrap. Apply water with a damp towel. Finish with weighted pad of paper towels or cloth for an extended time until dry.
*For pet accidents, you can apply a small amount of white undiluted vinegar mixed with baking soda to help neutralize the area.
This is a recommended cleaning procedure for most common spills and carpet fibers. Most spills if caught right away will be removed, but not all. Some spills may contain color changing ingredients.
The most common reason for the traffic areas being a little darker or having a "shadow" effect after carpet cleaning is carpet wear. The fibers in your carpet can become worn from foot traffic. Sometimes it can even appear near a sofa or favorite recliner. Your shoes track dirt and small rocks into your home and through time this can wear-down the fibers of your carpet.
WAYS TO HELP WITH CARPET FIBER WEAR:
1. Take off your shoes before walking on the carpet.
2. Use area rugs in traffic areas.
3. Occasionally rearrange your furniture.
Either way, if you are concerned, give us a call once you notice it and we will give it another look.
We do not use a constant water source, therefore we spray in only what is necessary. By the time we are done and ready to leave your carpets are usually slightly damp. Depending on your carpet texture and the weather, it can take 4-8 hours with proper ventilation. Proper ventilation can be open window in good weather or turning on fans. Usually by the next day or so you are good-to-go!
